U Krajňáků Butcher Shop is a family business with over 25 years of tradition. Since 1998, we have been running a butcher shop and dining hall in Kaplice. We produce honest Czech deli products from quality ingredients — sausages, smoked meats, frankfurters, headcheese and other traditional products. Every day we also offer ready-made meals to the public. We carry on the craft of previous generations while modernizing and growing the business. Quality, tradition and our own production — that is U Krajňáků.
When I founded Řeznictví u Krajňáků s.r.o. in 1998, I didn't have a grand business plan written on paper. All I had was experience, a desire to work with my hands, and above all, a belief that honest meat and honest work always make sense.
I grew up around the craft. Meat was never just a product in a display case to me. It was the result of the work of people who wake up early in the morning, care for animals, and put a piece of themselves into it. And I knew that if I was going to do it, I wanted to do it right. No shortcuts.
The beginnings weren't easy. A small shop, long shifts, we did everything ourselves. I remember how in the first weeks we dealt with absolutely everything — from suppliers to how to properly set up the display case so the meat looked the way it should. Every customer mattered. And every compliment reassured me that we were on the right path.
Gradually we began to expand production. I didn't want to just sell meat. I wanted people to come to us for the taste they remember from childhood. Sausages without unnecessary chemicals, proper smoked meat, ham that actually tastes like ham. When we got our own production running at full capacity, it was an enormous joy — but also a commitment.
Years passed and we grew. The shop was renovated, we got more modern equipment, more employees. But one thing I always watched over — that we wouldn't lose the family atmosphere. I didn't want it to become an anonymous business. I wanted it so that when someone says "I'm going to Krajňák's", it would mean something more than just shopping.
Eventually the next generation got involved. That is perhaps my greatest satisfaction. Seeing that what we built has a continuation. That tradition doesn't end with me. That the name above the door makes sense for the future too.
Today we're no longer just a butcher shop. We have a dining hall, we cook ready meals, we try to keep up with modern times, but we still build on the same foundations — quality ingredients, honest work and a personal approach.
And when someone asks me if I would do it all over again, the answer is simple: yes. Because this isn't just a business. This is a part of our lives.
